EXTERNAL PROJECT: The story in the forest
I always want to draw for children book, so in this project, I chose the theme of children illustration book. My plan is a children story book. The story is based on a poetry in Chinese, but when I translate it into English, it's no longer a poetry anymore…
The story in the forest
The queen of peacock lives in a kind and peaceful forest with thousands of birds.
The birds fly around the trees, sing the happy songs, live a happy life.
One night, the moon disappeared, the lightening splintered a tree.
A big bird came down, shook its feathers, turned into the queen of peacock, started to chatter.
The birds in the forest considered it as their queen, flying circles around it.
The fake peacock changed its face, wanted birds to kneel down and listen to it.
The fake peacock cawed, 'The delicious and tasty food belong to me, and you, belong to me.
I can take you to the heaven.'
As the day went on, the treasures were piled up beside the trees.
The birds sent the foods day by day, but still, could not fill up its greedy appetite.
Under the sway of the fake peacock, some birds' eyes turned into black ink.
They began to attack and kill other little birds.
The peaceful days were no longer exist, the kind birds were frightened and trembled.
The real queen of peacock heard their weep, flew to them, bring them three magic power.
The power of equality, harmony and love destroyed the deceptive confusion.
The fake bird transformed back into the big bird, whined and escaped.
The peace and harmony in the forest resumed, birds began to sing again.
However, be careful, some force still simmered below the surface in somewhere.
Don't be cheated by the lies, the world is full of sunshine.
Don't forget the love, harmony and equality.
I started to draw, began with the storyboard. The story is about birds, so I searched lots of birds' photos online, for instance, how birds fly, how birds stand.
After finished the drawings, was the last step, adding text inside the drawings. I've tried different size and typefaces to make sure which one looks better, and below are my final images without text.
Final, with text.
